White Label Series
The White Label is the heart of the Smidge range and all wines are straight varietals. The Adamo (latin to fall in love) is the mainstay of the series and is a classic Barossa Shiraz blend of declassified ‘S’ barrels.
The Adelaide Hills Viognier remains the only white wine in the range, named the Cellar-pod after it’s first vintage produced 8 barrels,
The Tardy, a Zinfandel from Langhorne Creek is where the Smidge story began, and two new wines have recently been added to the family, The Ging, a McLaren Vale Shiraz and also from McLaren Vale La Grenouille, a Cabernet Sauvignon.
Adamo - Barossa Valley Shiraz
Adamo: latin, To fall in love with, find pleasure in. The passion and pleasure that comes from finding your true love takes your breathe away and leaves a smile that lasts a lifetime...In the spirit of Adamo, this Barossa Shiraz captures the tender union of stunning fruit, fine oak and a devoted artist...what the wine maker joins for life let no man pull apart...
The Ging - McLaren Vale Shiraz
The Ging was a grand man in stature and personality with a commanding presence and cheeky humour. He was passionate, unstoppable, generous to the core, and according to many…ahead of his time. It seems appropriate that our McLaren Vale Shiraz shares many rich characteristics of this great man whose memory remains a legend among us…
The Cellar-pod - Adelaide Hills Viognier
Perhaps because there were only 8 barrels made or because we were captured by it’s grace and character? One thing we know for sure, this Adelaide Hills Viognier will suck you in, wrap you up and before you know it, this wine have quietly slipped away… and you’ll be left wondering if there is just enough for another Smidge…
The Tardy - Langhorne Creek Zinfandel
Named in honour of Matt's reputation for time keeping, The Tardy was the original label and wine that launched the Smidge venture. in 2001, matt found an outstanding source of Zin grapes, and indulged his passion for the variety making a handful of barrels.
The Donald - Barossa Zinfandel
The Donald -like any family, there are subtle similarities and differences between each member that show that you both belong, yet are still an individual...for the second Zin in our series you can see the bold traits you expect from a big Barossa red, complemented with the rich spiciness synonymous with zinfandel giving a unique character that is impossible to resist...and to keep it in the family, we've named this Zin the Donald, in recognition of Matt's grandfather - the master of tardiness.
La Grenouille - McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon
Meaning frog, Le Grenouille aptly captures the frustrated Frenchman inside the Winemaker, as well as the metamorphosis of this single vineyard fruit into an elegant McLaren Vale Cabernet. Just like the fairytale, when you put a glass to your lips and kiss this frog you won’t be disappointed.
