Adamo Barossa Valley Shiraz 2020
"91% Barossa Valley, 9% Eden Valley, 16 days on skins, 20 months in used French barriques and hogsheads. I cannot understand 15.5% alcohol in the context of '17, but the spice and texture can't be denied."
- James Halliday
The White Label wines from Smidge Wines all carry their own names to show true varietal character and reflect the region of origin. They reveal complexity, flavour and structure – big and bold, but with a level of restraint that is the mark of excellent winemaking.
The Adamo is a deep, deep red with a magenta rim with a nose full of red fruits and plums, with a simmering earthiness, anise and cinnamon spice. The spice is a soft juicy entry of red fruits is again partnered with fine spice and anise, which flow through the palate, balanced with fine tannins and a lick of chocolate on the finish. Drink The Adamo now or with careful cellaring, The Adamo can be enjoyed until 2030.
Adamo Shiraz Barossa Valley 2017 has been rated 95 points in the 2021 James Halliday Australian Wine Companion.
